Massachusetts has a new Wage Transparency Law.

Beginning October 29, 2025, the law requires employers with 25 or more employees (“covered employers”) to establish and disclose pay ranges in job postings and to employees. A “pay range” is “the annual salary range or hourly wage range that the employer reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for such a position at that time.”

Also beginning October 29, 2025, employees or prospective employees of covered employers have a right to know the pay range for a position when applying for a position, upon promotion, transfer, or beginning a new position, and on request for their current position. Covered employers are prohibited from retaliating against employees who seek to exercise their rights under the law.

We are happy to report that we have recently received two cy pres awards (unclaimed money from class action settlements)!

The first one was directed to FEP by the firm of Rudolph Friedmann LLP.  This award comes from the settlement of a case brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act for unpaid wages.

Adam Shafran, a partner at Rudolph Friedmann, represented the plaintiffs in the matter.

Attorney Shafran is an experienced employment attorney who has counseled and litigated all aspects of the employment relationship. For the past five years, he has been selected to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star list for employment litigation, an award recognizing the top 2.5% of attorneys under the age of 40 in Massachusetts.

The second one was directed by the firm of Ortiz & Moeslinger, P.C.

The award comes from the settlement of a case brought under Massachusetts law for failure to pay earned tips.

Nicholas Ortiz and Raven Moeslinger represented the plaintiffs.

Attorney Ortiz has dedicated his legal career to representing workers seeking to recover earned wages, and consumers subject to unfair or deceptive economic practices.  Attorney Moeslinger has practiced civil litigation for more than 10 years, focusing on wage and hour, consumer protection, and class action cases.

The firm brings cases for unpaid wages under the Massachusetts Wage Act, Overtime Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Prevailing Wage Law, and other statutes. These cases often involve public construction workers, sales commission disputes, unpaid overtime, on-call time, travel time, travel expense reimbursement, accrued vacation time, and related theories of legal liability.

Ortiz & Moeslinger also maintains the Massachusetts Wage Blog, which for the past 20 years has helped Massachusetts employees learn about their wage rights.

Thank you!

And thanks to these firms, which have also recently directed cy pres awards to us:
